About the organisation

Body & Soul

Body & Soul uses a comprehensive, community-based and trauma informed approach to address the life-threatening effects of adverse childhood experiences. Whether someone has been neglected or abused, trafficked, attempted suicide or stigmatised because of HIV – we have helped to liberate thousands of people from the trauma that controls them.

Application deadline:

Body & Soul is a charity dedicated to transforming the life-threatening effects of adverse childhood experiences. We have developed a ‘whole person’ model of care which brings cohesion back to lives that have been fragmented by the traumas of abuse, neglect, illness, or family breakdown. Our community provides people of all ages with a wide range of innovative and creative programmes that support physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.

You will be supporting in our purpose-built children’s centre for our Adventurers aged 0-9 years on our programme for those living with or affected by HIV. The children’s centre is OFSTED approved and follows the national curriculum. We’re committed to delivering responsive, sensitive programming geared at building children’s emotional literacy and resilience while developing their physical, cognitive, imaginative and social needs.

As a Children’s Support Volunteer you will lead or assist a variety of activities from story time to pizza making! You will support on creative and educational sessions, stimulate imaginative play and build relationships with the children to enhance confidence and resilience. This is a rewarding role where you will work in coordination with the Head of Children’s services and therapists to support child development and emotional well-being.
