Shop Trolley Volunteer


Cheerful volunteers needed to work with another volunteer to take the shop trolley to the wards, selling items from the WH Smith shop trolley to patients, staff and visitors. Need to be reliable, friendly, confident with handling small change and happy to walk around a busy hospital. Trolley leaves at 930 am and is back for 12 noon.

Soup Kitchen Volunteer

A souper way to get involved with the Finsbury Park community!

We run a Soup Kitchen based at St John the Evangelist, Brownswood Park (the Hackney bit of Finsbury Park!). To keep this project running we are looking for UCL students who live in the area to volunteer a few hours of their time on a Tuesday evening.

There is a mix of volunteering opportunities available, depending on what you want to take on, from serving soup at the weekly soup kitchen to getting involved in co-ordinating the project.

Opportunity: Shop Trolley Volunteer

Take the shop trolley around the wards to patients unable to leave their beds. Patients can purchase confectionery, toiletries and newspapers.

Opportunity: Food Events Volunteer

Action Against Hunger works at food festivals and food events throughout the year to raise funds for their lifesaving programmes around the world. We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help at these events, selling raffle tickets, running the Shop & Drop, spreading the word about our lifesaving work as well as helping with other fundraising activities.

Opportunity: Volunteer Depot Team Member

The Depot Team Member is responsible for sorting surplus food and preparing specific crates for charities.

Action Against Hunger is enthusiastically supported by top chefs, food writers, a multitude of restaurants, hotels and other food outlets, as well as food-lovers across Britain, who all unite to raise funds for our life-saving programmes around the world.

We attend food festivals and events throughout the year to fundraise and to continue to spread the word about our Love Food Give Food campaign and our programmes to new potential supporters.

Opportunity: Cooking or Hosting Volunteers

Get creative and cook a three course meal using food waste for refugee and asylum seeker women and their young children!

Foods of the World volunteer


• Our new ‘Foods of the World’ project is all about recipe sharing and getting to know our magnificently diverse community by supporting people to share their favourite recipes with one another and the wider community through our cafe.

Foods of the World volunteers work together to prepare healthy, delicious vegetarian meals with food surplus to be sold at our Saturday Community Café. Our café is used by people of all ages and backgrounds including those facing isolation and disadvantage.

Opportunity: Front of House Volunteer

Shoreditch Town Hall is looking for volunteers to get involved in a range of activities. Whether is be as an usher in our current season of artistic work, serving tea and coffee at events, or distributing leaflets, your interests and skills are incredibly important to us.

Cooking or Hosting Volunteers


FoodCycle takes food that would have been thrown in the bin but is perfectly good to eat into a three course meal for people in our community. We tackle food poverty and loneliness by getting communities together to eat a healthy vegetarian meal. If you like getting creative, eating good food and having a chat then this is the opportunity for you!

Opportunity: Hopetown Hostel Volunteer

To support vulnerable women residing in the hostel to improve their nutrition/eating habits, through the facilitation of group cooking sessions in the hostel.

* Every Saturday we pop -up and serve delicious, healthy, affordable lunches to the local area 11am -2pm, bringing people together from all different cultures, faiths, backgrounds, ages, interests and identities through our mutual love of food!

* Our new ‘Foods of the World’ project starting in 2019 is all about recipe sharing and getting to know our magnificently diverse community by supporting people to share their favourite recipes with one another and the wider community through our cafe.

* You will be helping in the kitchen to make these recipes come to life (including your own favourite recipe if you would like!), learning all about where the dish originates from, the different flavours and techniques involved, and then sharing a meal together.
