Community Ambassadors will play a key role in helping The Mayhew to meet its strategic objective of increasing awareness and understanding of its work within the community.

Enfield Peer Educator

Organisation: 

The Health Promotion team in Enfield are looking for a volunteer to help provide information and support around HIV prevention to individuals to communities in Enfield.

The right volunteer will help the team to:

• Provide short, factual presentations on HIV and/or the Terrence Higgins Trust.

• Run outreach stalls, both as a team, and independently to engage members of the community to take an HIV test

• Visiting barber shops and salons to run outreach sessions

Women's Support Volunteer / General Volunteer

Can you speak good English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)? Are you eager to help the disadvantaged people in our community? Come and join us!

Chinese Information and Advice Centre (CIAC) provides free information, advice and support to disadvantaged Chinese people in our community living in the UK. This includes supporting women and children who are victims, or at risk of domestic violence, and advice on issues such as welfare and benefit, immigration, asylum and homelessness.

LGBT+ ambassador in schools

3 in 4 LGBT+ young people have been bullied, and LGBT+ school students are twice as likely to face discrimination.

Our network of 200 trained LGBT+ ambassadors work to change that, by championing LGBT+ equality and allyship in schools and colleges as relatable LGBT+ role models.

They also blog, tweet and raise awareness all over the UK.

Ambassador

The main aim of the Ambassador Programme is to represent and promote Noah’s Ark at various community events in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. Your help would really make a difference in helping us raise awareness and funds. It is hoped that volunteers can commit to supporting in this role for a minimum of 12 months, but this can be flexible.

We hope to provide you with the opportunity to build connections with the local community, to develop public speaking skills and to organise effective presentations to deliver to an audience.

Wild East Schools Project Volunteer

Could you inspire young people to learn through nature?

Our Wild Schools project enables children to explore the curriculum in the beautiful outdoor setting of West Ham Park which maximises their learning experience.

Our volunteers guide and support groups of children with learning activities.

Sessions take place all-year’round during term-time on weekdays and last approximately 3 hours.

FareShare London redistributes surplus food to charities and community groups across the capital, who turn it into meals for vulnerable people. We operate a warehouse in Deptford, South East London, where we sort and store surplus food and then deliver it on our vans to our member charities and community groups across London.

Redbridge HIV Prevention Volunteer

To support the Redbridge HIV prevention team by engaging with individuals and communities in Redbridge to promote the importance of HIV testing and safer sex and signposting services.

Desirable skills and experience

- Ability to engage effectively with Black African or MSM communities

- Excellent communication and active listening skills

- A basic understanding of the issues relating to HIV and AIDS, or willingness to learn

EURO 2020 London Squad

Outreach Support Volunteer (OSV)

Betknowmore UK is a gambling support service based in Islington. We provide 1:1 outreach and counselling support, workshops and community information and awareness campaigns addressing problem gambling and addiction.

Volunteers are required to help support our outreach services and community events. For suitable candidates, there may also be the opportunity to provide 1:1 mentoring/befriending to clients presenting with gambling issues. Volunteers would receive full support and training.

Awareness Volunteer

Pancreatic Cancer Action is a national charity who aims to improve the survival of men and women diagnosed with pancreatic cancer patients by raising awareness of symptoms and risk factors, funding research into early diagnosis, campaigning for more funding and providing patients with information and support.

Just a few hours of your time and a smile is all it takes support St Mark’s Hospital Foundation in aid of researching cures for Bowel Diseases. We are looking for energetic volunteers who have a couple of hours per month to support our community events in the north west London area.

Events this year include a Young Professionals Evening, Breakfast Run, Bowel Awareness Day, Hint Hunt, London Triathalon, VIP Gala Night - all in support of St Mark’s Hospital Foundation.

World Stories Sound Recording Facilitator

World Stories is a free, electronic library of stories from around the world, created by KidsOut charity in an attempt to create a teaching resource that also helps disadvantaged students. The website consists of over 100 stories in English and a native language. We focus on the top 15 most spoken languages in the UK, these include: Polish, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Hindi, Tagalog, Urdu and Arabic.

Events Volunteer

The Mayhew is seeking an enthusiastic, responsible and target-driven Events Volunteer to assist with any events The Mayhew holds or attends. The purpose of which, is to raise awareness and funds through talking to members of the public and selling of Mayhew stock.

Social Media Co-ordinator

We need a creative and committed individual who can help us make a difference to the lives of Camden’s private renters by increasing and improving our use of social media.

We currently use it to raise the profile of our organisation amongst private renters, for providing useful information and to highlight the many issues currently being faced by renters - but we now need to use it in a much more creative, sustained and effective way.

So, if you have the skills and experience we are looking for, we’d love to hear from you.

Pin Badge Volunteer

Do you have a few hours to spare each week? We are looking for people to place and manage five or more pin badge boxes in suitable shops and attractions within your community. We will ask you to visit these sites every month, count and bank at any post office or Pay Point location and replenish boxes with pin badges. You will have regular contact with RSPB staff in London/Brighton.

For a small amount of your time can gain valuable experience. Such as; responsibility, organizational skills, working on own initiative, liaising with mangers and communication skills.
