Oaklands School is an 11-19 school with a small but well established sixth form in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The majority of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are often in receipt of Free School Meals, as well as the 16-19 Bursary. Despite this, a large number of them aspire to continue onto higher education.

We are looking for academic mentors who are willing to support our Sixth Formers in any of our specialist subjects; Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, History, Government & Politics, Geography or ICT.

You would work with a small group of students. Dates and times will be flexible as it will need to fit with volunteer and students timetables. We do, however, ask for a minimum commitment of 4 sessions.

Role Aim: 

You would work with a small group of A-Level students to support them with their academic work.

Duties: 

To meet with the subject teacher so they can explain what format they want the sessions to take and give you any details about the students.

To commit to a regular time each week when you can meet with the A Level students and support them with their work as required

Skills needed: 

Academic knowledge in the subject

Good communication skills

Good people skills
