Phoenix Wellbeing & Recovery Volunteers


Interested in supporting people who are experiencing mental distress’ Do you have an open mind and a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing? This could be the role for you.

The Phoenix Recovery Volunteers provide various forms of support to members of our Phoenix Service to assist and promote their recovery. They work alongside paid Senior Recovery Workers, Specialist Sessional Contractors and other volunteers. The Phoenix service is based in the heart of Camden Town.

Skills for Work Advisor

Are you passionate about making the labour market fair for all? Would you like to help prevent exploitation in the workplace? Are you a Spanish and English speaker? If yes, then, this volunteer role might be for you!

Dementia Befriending Volunteer


Visiting someone living with dementia or memory loss is very rewarding. We are looking for people who can commit to making a weekly visit to someone for a year, to help alleviate isolation and keep these older people engaged with their communities. People live all over Camden, so a willingness to travel is necessary.

Completion of on-line training in Dementia Awareness is a prerequisite to becoming a befriender.

Other training is provided and out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.


Do you want to make a difference to people affected by suicide? Come into CALM HQ to help us support our supporters to raise money for and awareness of CALM. We’ve had a massive increase in orders and can’t fulfil them without the help of excellent people like you!

CALM works to prevent male suicide, the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. We provide a helpline and webchat services and campaign to change the conversation about masculinity and suicide.

Befriender Volunteer


Would you like to make a difference in a vulnerable person’s life, if yes, you are welcome to volunteer with One Support. We offer a number of volunteering roles for you and if you have an expertise creative, music, sports you are welcome to volunteer, you will really help our people access the community and achieve their goals.

Community Navigator


We need Volunteer Navigators to support local people into making connections with their local community to improve their mental health. If you are passionate about supporting people who are struggling with their mental health, then this is a great opportunity for you. You will develop your own skills whilst helping someone else to become a part of their community.

Day-Centre Volunteer


The Holy Cross Centre Trusts (HCCT) is an independent, secular organisation founded in 1988. We work with marginalised and vulnerable adults across London, and we pride ourselves in doing things differently.

We are looking for general volunteers to work at a Mental Health Wellbeing centre in Swiss Cottage where people who suffer from mental health issues attend.

The role is to provide emotional and practical support to clients, as well as to support the logistics through cooking, cleaning and offering administrative support if required.

Volunteer befriender

Santé supports refugees and asylum seekers who have social care/ health issues. Befrienders will help people to link to services, rebuild confidence, overcome practical problems such as language barriers, and better understand UK culture.

No qualifications are needed although we require a DBS check to ensure you are eligible to work with vulnerable adults. Befrienders need to be accepting, caring, good listeners and assertive.

Ability to speak a refugee language is useful but not essential. Training and support will be provided.

Social Prescribing Link Worker


A great opportunity to volunteer as a link worker for Mind in Camden’s Social Prescribing service. This service is embedded in an NHS team and works in partnership with community providers in Camden to deliver one-to-one support to Camden residents with mental health issues. We help them to identify and access community facilities and activities to aid their recovery.

The Advocacy Project is looking for passionate people with lived experience of mental health difficulties to take part in exciting engagement activities that will help influence London mental health services.

Service users/ carers will work alongside NHS professionals to feed into six areas of work that make up the Adult Mental Health Transformation Programme.

Senior Shop Volunteer


Looking for experience in a retail environment?

Our busy and successful shop on Camden Road sells entirely donated goods whose profits provide important income for Mind in Camden. It is not part of a national chain and all the income goes to Mind in Camden.

We are looking for a Senior Volunteer to help run the shop and to take responsibility when the manager is absent.

Wellbeing Volunteer


Take a central role in our prevention strategy. As a Wellbeing 360 volunteer, you’ll make phone contact with people who have previously been clients of Age UK Islington - checking in to see how they are and entering details of the call into a specially designed computer app. The service plays an invaluable role in identifying people who might be lonely or living in difficult circumstances, and providing appropriate support as a result. With volunteers and clients saying how much they enjoy making and receiving these phone calls, this is a popular and growing team.

Dementia Wellbeing Assistant


Do you like the idea of spending time with and supporting older people?

Age UK Camden provides services and support to older people in Camden borough.

Dementia Wellbeing Assistants engage with people in their homes and in the community providing invaluable practical and emotional support, that helps keep them engaged with the community and their interests.

This role will suit someone who has 1-2 hours a week (excluding travel) during the day, and can commit for up to 12 months.

Helpline Volunteer


Calling all good listeners interested in mental health!

OCD Action relies on the dedication of volunteers to make sure that we are there to help people in need and that our message can get out. Our team of Helpline volunteers respond to calls on our helpline and the emails we receive asking for support. Helpline volunteers need to be able to travel to Central London (Islington) for their initial training and for their on-going work on the Helpline.

Mental Health Champions

The Manor Gardens Welfare Trust was founded in 1913. Our services are dedicated to promoting good mental health, physical health and wellbeing across Islington.

The Wellbeing Service @ Manor Gardens is currently looking to recruit new Mental Health Champion Volunteers.

Mental Health Champions are a community of individuals actively starting conversations around mental health.

This can be done through putting on events, attending meetings and starting conversations with their colleagues and friends to reduce the stigma around mental health.

Our volunteer Befrienders play an incredibly important role, offering those in need the opportunity to talk and be befriended without pressure or judgement. They enable the guests to feel understood and valued. Besides befriending guests, we ask our volunteers to help with admin and some light cooking and food preparation. You also have the opportunity to help out with publicity, although this is optional.

Peer Mentor


Mentoring can be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience! Not only will you be helping someone else develop their own skills and well-being, but you will also have a lot to gain from it.

Mentors experience increasing levels of empowerment, self-esteem and increased confidence, as well as the ability to cope with their own mental health issues. Peer Support benefits everyone, not just the mentor!

Stoll is both a housing association and a charity and for almost 100 years, we have provided homes and support services for vulnerable Veterans (ex-Armed Forces personnel). We have four housing schemes in London and our office is based at our largest scheme, Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions, in the Fulham Road Apart from providing housing, we also provide support services, to ensure that Veterans are equipped to live independently.
