Do you have a DBS certificate? Would you like to support young people to reach their full potential? Become a Peer Tutor and earn money through your mobile! Remember struggling with your homework and revision for exams? Peer Tutor is a new mobile app designed for school students to get instant help from their peers when they need it most. As a Peer Tutor, you will answer questions, provide feedback and deliver live 30-minute lessons to students studying for GCSE and A-Level exams, all via a smartphone.

Once downloaded, the Peer Tutor app lets you set when you are available to work. Meaning you can earn money whilst you are at home, in a cafe or studying in the library.

Our app uses an algorithm that matches a learner’s question to tutors based upon their availability and the topics they have set as an area of strength. If matched with a request, you will receive a notification that a question has been asked and you will be able to either claim or reject it. If you claim it, you can use photos and text to provide step by step advice on how to tackle that problem or offer points of feedback on their work to help them improve.

Our live lesson feature allows you to have a live conversation with a user and discuss a specific topic using revision guide content. Live lessons last 30 minutes long and all session content will be provided for you, so you do not need to prepare any resources. Live lessons start within 5 minutes of you accepting a request, giving you time to get set up on a PC or laptop.

You will be paid for the work you complete on the app. You will be paid at the following rates:

  • £5 Per live lesson delivered
  • £3 for five points of feedback
  • £1 for a step by step answer to a specific question

You will also receive a star rating for the support you provide learners, meaning the higher your rating the more work requests you will receive. Not only that, if you are ‘favourited’ by a user you will automatically be matched first with their request in the future and will have first refusal on their requests for support.

How to apply:

To apply, please go to and click ‘Become a Peer Tutor’ or go to the app store, download the app and click ‘Apply to be a Tutor’.

As a part of the application process, all tutors are required to submit a copy of photographic ID (provisional driving license, student ID or passport) and a scanned copy of your most recent qualifications. We do not store these, we just use these to verify your identity and that you have the required grades to tutor, after this they are deleted.

You must also be available for a 30-minute online demo/training session. You will need access to a computer and google chrome/firefox for this. Training sessions run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am and 2pm.
