Adriana Cavanaugh
Hi there! My name’s Adriana, I’m Spanish and I am in second year Neuroscience. I’m a very passionate and lively person, and I love talking to people and exchanging opinions. I am very interested in education, especially in how we can maximise learning potential. After 1 year at UCL, I can see that the university has some really great aspects, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

As a Representative of the Faculty of Life Sciences, I will like to promote the following:

-Modules: more information, guidance and advice on module selection.

-Assessment that arrives with constructive feedback and enough time to allow for improvement before next submissions.

-Ensuring personal tutors are engaged with their students and willing to advise and guide them.

-Ensuring lecture slides are uploaded in advance, to allow students to prepare lectures in advance and follow them better.

-Start a second hand book sale, in which students can sell books they don’t need anymore and these can then be sold to students who do.

-Making books and readings more readily available online, since copies of useful textbook often run out in the library and are expensive to purchase.

Shail Bhatt
I wish to maintain the homeostasis of care, support, and excellence within our wholesome student body. Having been an academic rep, a lead academic rep, and a student quality reviewer, I have seen this faculty through many objectives and lenses, but the goal has always been to ensure that my fellow students receive all the help they can get to ace their courses.

The therapeutic effects of voting for me would be many:

1) I wish to organize and set in place more career events and support, including an initiative to create a one-stop solution for internship opportunities, career events, alumni interviews
2) I want to hold open labs and open days to encourage further research and to allow students to network
3) I hope to create better mental health support for students and provide opportunities to students with disability

Vote for me, and keep the faculty healthy :)
Carmen Fairley Gil-Alberdi
My name is Carmen and I’m a 3rd year Pharmacology student from Madrid, Spain. Holaaa 😊
I am suited to this role because I’m approachable, can empathize with others, and I’m really motivated to improve everything that surrounds being a Life Sciences student at UCL.
Having lived in 7 different countries and changed schools many times, I have seen diverse educational systems. This makes me a good Faculty Rep for two reasons. First, this background enables me to draw from my experiences to create effective, long-lasting changes. Second, this has made me a very sociable person, which is essential to get feedback from students and communicate ideas clearly.
First, I hope to increase the help students get in preparing for exams. For instance, I believe it could be extremely beneficial to run essay-writing sessions to help tackle all the marking criteria.
Second, I wish to increase the amount of information we receive with respect to career prospects, specifically as Life Sciences students. UCL has an excellent career help platform and my plan is to help every student make the most of it.
Lastly, I hope to get your feedback to ensure all your concerns are understood and, hopefully, solved!
