Menghan Wang
Hi, my name is Menghan and I’m running for the position as a representative for the Institute of Education faculty! I’ve been in UK for four years.

I understand how stressful it can be for graduate students like us in one year, therefore I pledge that I will always put students’ benefits as my priority including:

1)I will be cooperating with staff and students from each sub-department to deal with workloads and assignments. I will make sure that all the online studying materials will be available for students.

2)Need someone to talk to?
Getting homesick? Depression? Don’t worry. Besides from handling the academic issues, I wish to be more connected with you on a personal level.

To make all these happen, I need Your Vote!
If you see me in the hall way, come to talk to me!
I am very friendly, and good at cooking.
Paula Saarinen
I truly believe that every person in the university community should be heard. We students are an important part of this academic community and our opinion should be valued in every step of the decision-making. I am international postgraduate student from Finland, and I would be honoured to represent all the students from IOE as a faculty representative. My focus points as an IOE faculty representative will be following:

1. Equality
It is important to me that all the students, professors, researchers and other members of faculty staff are treated in equally. As a representative, I will raise the awareness concerning these matters and I will be ready to question the structures that produce inequality issues here at the IOE.

2. International students
As an international student, I understand the struggles of doing your degree in English as your second language. IOE already has a great support system for international students but there is still improvements that could be done in this sector.

3. Adjustable studying
I will propose to faculty board that more adjustable methods in studying are put into practice. Students have different life situations and backgrounds and it needs to be taken in to consideration

Guoqin Zhou
Hello! My name is Guoqin Zhou, and I am a TESOL in-service postgraduate student now. As an international student, I have felt both the benefits and challenges of being foreign students. How can we finish the most important research parts and experience a really colorful life here at UCL in this one year master duration?
I have been a leader in Students’ Union during my undergraduate study, and held many different kinds of activities and competitions to enrich students’ life and create more chances of communication. So I want to use my experiences to work for all the international students: to help the integration, create more academic networking opportunities, and student welfare. I want to make sure you can benefit as much as possible from your university life here at UCL. As Rep of IOE, I would like to be an active representative that voices your opinions and expresses any of the concerns you might have. If my ethos resonates with yours, please vote for me -- you will not be disappointed!
Faisal Ali
I am Faisal Ali, and I am running for the IOE Faculty Rep position. I have been there when no one listens to you, and the pressure gets the best of you and you don’t know what to do. I will be that person you can turn to, there is always help and ALWAYS something that can be done about anything. When there is a dead end that is when we can make that change, and we can do that together. I will do everything in my power to help you, you are my concern.
I can maximise the role for us at IOE as I have spent years doing youth work and care work for others, putting others first and making ACTUAL changes that are necessary. I plan to adjust the issues people find with our systems, but my primary concern is the well-being of us as people. I know what failing feels like, sometimes we just want someone to talk to and listen. I plan to open doors for those who feel different, because it is ok to just BE YOU. My ears are yours, please feel free to contact me anytime at
Thank you.
