Karen Ngooi
Hi, my name is Karen Ngooi. I am a MSc Global Health and Development student from Malaysia. As an international student, I understand how being away from home, family and friends, can be overwhelming. As much as getting our master’s degree is important this year, I believe we all want to make the most of our time here and be a part of an inclusive community.

If elected as your Hall Representative, I will serve with the utmost integrity in advocating for good standards of living and affordability in our hall, as well as running community building activities that make living together feels more like home.

For the past 10 years, since my time as an undergraduate student in the United States and working in Malaysia, I’ve always been passionate about connecting people to one another. I’ve also had the privilege of journeying with different community groups and providing pastoral leadership to the group leaders.

I believe I have the experience, competence, and a genuine heart to represent New Hall in the Students’ Union. I look forward to getting to know you all, supporting you to resolve any issues and making this the most memorable year for all of us!
Carolina Cervetto
Hi, I am Carolina and I am running for New Hall representative. I believe that New Hall is our home and therefore it is of utmost importance that we make this space our safe, respectful and familiar place. Our needs should be addressed and our voices heard. I want to mediate so each one of us can feel at home. Coming from different backgrounds we can learn from each other and have fun together. As part of my campaign I want to make sure the spaces we have are actually helpful and that our environment invites us to study, enjoy the beautiful city of London and learn for our masters.
Jia Liu
There can be so much difficulty in a brand new environment and it is quite hard to handle everything. I have heard a lot of complaints and really want to help.
Even if we will just stay at New Hall for 1 year or more, it is important to make every moment meaningful and create a lovely community by all of us.
Sara Javadian
My name is Sara, I am studying Child Psychology and I would love to be your Hall Rep. I am very eager to get involved and make a positive change as I believe our hall should be a safe and homey environment for us. I am very approachable and sociable and have become friends with many of you.

By this point, some of us might be feeling a little homesick, but I believe we can make our own little family here. Hence, one of my top priorities is to plan events for us to socialize and have fun (movie nights, game nights, dancing and workouts, picnics and visits to historical places, etc.). Through this, I hope we can forge closer ties, and turn this hall into our home away from home.

I also have the confidence to speak up for our rights as residents of the hall. Since we moved in, I had proactively contacted the hall manager to discuss issues that affect us collectively. For example, I had pointed out that having maintenance staff enter our rooms without our prior knowledge is against our privacy and had requested for sufficient notice to be given.

I hope I can become the voice of our family.
Chen Cong
Hey, everyone! I am Chen Cong (Jessie). Nice to meet you:)

I am strongly aware that the Heating in many rooms doesn't work, and it indeed bothers our life. If I can be a Hall Rep, the priority I will do is to report this issue and address it as soon as possible! ( That's why I want to be a Hall Rep--to create a functional dormitory and foster a comfortable sense of community)

I believe I am qualified for the role, because:
*I am one of Accommodation Ambassadors this year (who are in pink T-shirt and guided you guys when you came here), so I am definitely familiar with accommodation stuff.
*I was a course representative on my pre-sessional programme for the last 3 months, so I know how to deal with concerns efficiently with staff and. I will be committed to represent us and protect our rights furthest.
*I'm studying Psychology of Education. If you are in a bad mood, you can chat with me whenever you wish. I'm willing to be your listener.
*My motherland is China. Since most of us are Chinese, you may feel easier to contact me timely. In the meantime, when foreign friends encounter some confusion about China, I'll be available 24-7. We are family~~ (we can organise social events and get-togethers monthly!)

I'll put forward changes from cheaper laundry facilities to security cameras installation. I'm always happy to make our voices to be heard. I wish we all to have the best living experience in New Hall. Cheers guys!
Kate Spencer
Hi everyone!

I am really looking forward to the opportunity to serve as our representative so that all of your voices are heard and we can have a wonderful time in New Hall! I feel qualified for this position as I have experience in residence life and student representation.

I worked as a Resident Assistant for three years and was promoted to be a Residence Director. As an RA I advised students and planned community building programs for a very diverse hall population. My job was to make everyone feel welcomed in the building. As a Residence Director my role involved overseeing a 100 person building, supervising a staff of five RAs, and planning activities for the building. I have immense experience working with residents to ensure that their residential experience is a positive one.

Additionally, I was an elected student representative in student government for four years where I worked as a liaison between the student body and administration on a diverse array of concerns. So, I have experience in advocating for student’s concerns with administrative bodies.

I am very excited to serve you in this capacity, and I hope that you are willing to support me as well!
Gbemisola Osadua
Hi,

My name is Gbemisola Osadua, I am a Chevening Scholar from Nigeria studying for a Master of Laws. I am running for the position of Hall Rep because I would like to utilize my time as a resident of New Hall to serve the interest and welfarism of the residents of our prestigious Hall.

Having had the experience as a Hall Representative during my undergraduate degree and as a Student Representative during my Law School, I have come to realize the importance of welfarism of fellow students while pursuing an academic degree and the impact this has on their performance at the end of the academic endeavor. It is on this premise that I seek to serve.

My Agenda and Plans
1. Ensure all residents have all the necessary essentials in their rooms and in the common areas especially in the kitchen.
2. Organize periodic social activities and networking event for residents of the hall.
3. Create an effective communication platform to take residents complaint and take immediate action within 24 hours to ensure such complaints are resolved.

I look forward to great ideas from you on how to serve you better as your Hall Representative.

Thank you!
Paul Shadbolt
Hi! I believe I can do a good job for all the International and UK students at New Hall. I'm a Brit, localish in that I grew up just north of London.Im studying Sports Med as an MSc and work as a Physio. I'm told I'm a nice guy, I'm quite chilled but if you want me to.fight I can. Bit weird and goofey, but I will do a decent job.

Take care
Yanying Zheng
As an international student, it is my great honor to start my first year at UCL. When experiencing the new and fresh things happening around, i notice that there are a lot problems that new students might go through and sometimes they couldn't adapt to the new enrivonment very well. On the other hand, since i live in the student accommodation i realize that the living place could have a huge impact on helping students settling down and adapting. Therefore i would be very willing to devote myself into working as a hall rep in order to provide more for students in many aspects including acedemic work as well as social life.
Shihan Dong
I am standing for three reasons!
(1)Firstly, I have ever done an internship in Intelligent Residential Department of Longfor real estate company, which I believe enables me to be a good server to help you solve your various residental problems.
(2)Besides, I wish I could contribute myself to adding some colours to your life in your leisure time and making our hall a warm home for you, by organising a lot of interesting activities with my partners.
(3) On top of that, my major about Economics that equips me with thoughts of cost-benefit analysis can push me to think how to maximum your benefits in limited resources.
Please give me a chance to make our hall a better place to live, relax and enjoy!
