THE HOME OF FILM AT UCL

The UCL Film & TV Society has been a home for both cinema lovers and emerging filmmakers at University College London since 1948. FilmSoc offers an exciting range of film-related activities open to all levels of experience, as well as opportunities for members to meet others who share a passion for film and TV.

FilmSoc is not only one of UCL’s longest running societies, but also one of the oldest in the country - read more about our history here. The society has produced a number of notable alumni throughout its history, including director Christopher Nolan (President 1992-94 | Inception (2010), Interstellar (2014), The Dark Knight (2008)), producer Emma Thomas, and director Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve (2018), Fleabag (2016)).

Alongside regular film screenings, outings and socials, we run a yearly slate of productions for different levels of experience, as well as giving external funding and resources to affiliated projects. We make one ‘term film’ per term (fictional short films), and two ‘term docs’ per year. This year, we’re also working particularly hard on improving alternative opportunities to term films, called affiliate projects. Production members also gain access to our stock of equipment and get to use our dedicated, two-floor studio located in the Bloomsbury Building on the UCL campus. Additionally, we run our own journal and podcast, as well as a film festival - the Festival of the Moving Image (FOMI).

Whichever aspect of film you’re interested in, from watching, making or discussing films, you will be able to develop your interest and skills as well as meet other like-minded people at the UCL Film & TV Society!
