Project Active Park Yoga is happening TOMORROW! Can you believe it's already here?! We have been working away putting together goody bags for you guys and the weather forecast is looking good too! We've spent some time talking to Fizz, our instructor, before tomorrow so that you guys can find out what she's all about before the session.

We have a few spare tickets left if you haven't booked your place yet too.

Tell us about yourself!

The reason is in my name 'Fizz' haha, they often said that my energy made me burst like a fizzy pop, so even something fizzy, needs to be calm to handle. My yoga journey began when I was 14 years old. I found love in combining restorative flow yoga and yoga therapy to support my symptoms of living with a long term congenital heart condition, after numerous surgeries and 2 life saving heart surgeries at GOSH, I was quite weak going into my teen years. I since noticed how yoga not only helped me physically, but mentally and emotionally in living with a life long condition and dealing with general life also. 10 years on I recognise the power that yoga can bring has truly helped me increase my sense of strength, freedom, space and self-care and that's something great I want to share as a teacher now.

What is your favourite way to relax other than yoga?

The gym has always been my biggest stress reliever, I love TRX bands and spinning also. Away from sport, I love just going on really long walks, going by the see by myself and with friends and of course brunching :P

Do you have any top tips for aspiring yogis?

Step one: Just drop the ego before you come onto the mat. Often we are driven by trying to compete against others and be the busiest person on earth and for what? We won't get a recognised award for it. Also trying to nail a pose you see on instagram, isn't real life. Know that instagram isn't yoga, yoga is all about moving with your breath and just allowing yourself to truly immerse into each practice.

The magic of the practice can enhance the wellbeing of any individual

Also, one of my teachers always used to say, "always leave a class with at least one new friend, you may not know anything past their name and that they love yoga" but that's just it in a class you are a yoga community and together you bloom.

Try lots of classes and styles, as there's not one that fits all. You may find something that works for you.

Any funny yoga stories you'd like to share?

Ah so many! Yoga is a beautiful art that can be very amusing at times also.. I often say life is already too serious, just breathe and let loose.

What style of yoga do you teach?

I teach Vinyassa Flow Yoga, which is the movement with breath. I also incorporate a mindful and power steering aspect to my classes too, to help you feel nourished.

Whats the hardest pose you find?

May sound silly but your smile. Fizz understands the power of a smile and the importance of storytelling. She incorporates these in her practice, connecting the visualisation of nature to the imagination of childhood and delving into the emotional aspects of practice. Reflecting on her childhood experiences, allows her to bring a certain innocence and vulnerability to her practice and helps her students to appreciate their own values.

What're your favourite quotes?

" LIFE Beats On" Its a reminder to me that I am living and breathing and I'm so grateful for just being on planet earth.  Also quite fitting with the theme for Project Active Park Yoga this year: "from little seeds grow mighty trees"
