On Wednesday Team UCL Men’s Table Tennis 1st were confirmed Winners of the BUCS Premier South Division, a feat that hasn’t been achieved for many years across all sports clubs and is the first time in the clubs history they have won the highest ranked division.

The guys went two better than last year when they came 3rd in the same division, and have set themselves up for a home draw in the championship playoff where likely opponents Sheffield or Loughborough await. Before their fixture on Wednesday, the team had played 5 and won 5 and you can excuse them going down 9-8 to a Reading team with the top spot already secured.

The team completed the double over an impressive LSE side, who were last year’s champions and our elite athlete Helshan Weerasinghe had a 100% win rate, winning 30/30 games.

You can keep up to date with the team progress and follow their playoff journey through the BUCs website.

A huge congratulations to a much improving club who have excelled on and off the table, they have organised additional socials to integrate new members and offer sessions that are open to players of all abilities. Training and social sessions take place every between Tuesday 8-10pm and Friday from 6:30-10pm with an experienced coach.
